Since Konami cancelled Silent Hills and took the game's playable teaser (or P.T. for short) off the PlayStation Store, fans who missed their chance to download the demo or deleted it from their hard drive have been scrambling for a way to recover it.

Now, there's a way to do just that, though there are some risks involved. You'll have to download a PC program called Squid to access your digital game library from a proxy server, where you'll then find that P.T. is still available for download. Keep in mind that this only works for players who have already downloaded P.T. once.

The method appears to work fine, but using a proxy server to access your game library may be breaking some online terms and agreements that could get you banned from the PlayStation Network if Sony decides it's not a fan of what people are doing. Just keep that in mind if you do plan on trying to re-download the now-classic game by following the video below.

Konami's cancellation of Silent Hills was one of the earliest signs of the deteriorating relationship between Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and the publisher. Things only continued to escalate from there, as Konami removed P.T. entirely from the PlayStation Store, removed Kojima's name from the box art for Metal Gear Solid titles and prevented the famed creator from attending game award ceremonies.

The saga that P.T. started ended earlier this week, when Kojima officially left Konami, forming a new studio in partnership with Sony. We'll likely never see Silent Hills again, as Konami doubles down on its gambling machine business. At least with this less-than-official method, those who played the game once will be able to recapture some of that horrifying magic that Kojima created for players worldwide.
