Koei Tecmo's Attack on Titan game adaptation will have 10 playable characters available to navigate the the savage world of titan armies, featuring Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Krista, Sasha, Conny, Jean, Levi, Hange and Erwin.

According to an exclusive from Japanese news source Famitsu, in an interview with programmer Hisashi Koinuma and game director Tomoyuki Kitamura, the characters were selected for their integral-yet-distinct POV from the original manga, and what the game narrative could add to the mythos of the original series.

" 'Relive the story' has become the theme [of the game]," added Kitamura.

In an interview with Kotaku earlier this year, Koinuma was quick to point out the particular value of the game as opposed to the television and movie franchise of the same name, all based on the original manga. (The game, as the manga, also features story content by manga author Hajime Isayama.)

"Think of it as an action game set in the Attack on Titan world where players can move about freely," stated Koinuma. "It won't be something where you simply defeat an enemy to progress the story, but rather the base is an action game and within that you can understand the original story."

The 10 playable characters won't be the only familiar faces: nonplayable characters will include Reiner, Ymir, Bertolt, Marco, Keith, Rico, Ian, Pyxis, and the unnamed female titan.

Available for PS3 and PS4, Attack on Titan is scheduled to drop in Japan on Feb. 18, and is slated for a release in Canada and the U.S. later this year.
