Custom-Made Zombie Thrill Ride Now Available For Free In 'Dying Light'

If you've ever wanted to ride a zombie thrill ride, at least in the context of a video game, here's your chance.

Steam user Cabozzl created a custom map for Dying Light called "Harran: The Ride" that features an abandoned thrill ride surrounded by zombies. However, there's a group of survivors trapped inside that ride and "only a true runner can save them." So the runner must get on the ride and travel through it, while taking down zombies and hitting the "jackpot of loot and weapons."

"After [being] chased by the Infected in 'Harran Death Run,' it's time to settle down in 'Harran The Ride,'" writes Cabozzl on the custom map's download page. "Take your seat in an interactive Zombie Ride which guides you through various stages of zombinsanity. And when you think the ride is over ... the madness has just been started!"

This game mod impressed Dying Light developer Techland so much that the company commented on it.

'We were really amazed by the production value and overall level of skill!" said producer Tymon Smektała in an email press release. "This thing has cut-scenes, custom weapons, voiceovers, collectibles and everything else you could expect from a proper DLC. It even comes with its own trailer. We couldn't believe it was all made by just one person and simply had to share it with you."

In Dying Light, players take on the role of Kyle Crane, a runner who must traverse through Harran, a city infected by zombies. In his travels, Crane must collect Antizin, a drug that treats the virus in those already bitten (including himself). The adventure parkour game released in February 2015, with the first expansion pack arriving in February 2016. That expansion, "The Following," will feature an entirely new massive area for Crane to explore, as well as add additional details to the story behind the zombie virus.
