Batman, or at least Bruce Wayne as the costumed hero, has been absent from DC's main Batman comic for a while now. Instead, Bruce Wayne is helping out at a children's home and falling in love. Meanwhile, Jim Gordon has become Batman and fights crime in a mech suit.

Bruce has only a vague memory of his time as the caped crusader, but it looks like that will soon be changing. Hints have been dropped for the past several issues that Bruce might be making a return to the cape and cowl soon, and recent tweets from Batman artist Greg Capullo seem to confirm it.

First, Capullo tweeted out he was running a new batsuit design by DC for approval.

Roughly a week later, Capullo seems to have gotten his answer.

Capullo certainly sounds excited about the new suit. His partner in crime, writer Scott Snyder, seems to agree, saying "It's pretty terrific." While it could certainly be a new batsuit design for Gordon, it feels appropriate to assume the new suit will be going to Bruce Wayne upon his return to his superheroic ways in upcoming issues. If Capullo just now received approval from DC on the design, don't expect to see the new suit anytime soon. It will likely be several issues before this reveal is made public (just in time for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice perhaps?).

Until then, we can only wonder at the possibilities. Capullo and Snyder continue to defy expectations with their Batman run, so we can only assume Batman's new costume will do the same.
