Microsoft has announced that higher end versions of the Surface Pro 4 are now available for customers in the United States and Canada who are looking to add more punch to their tablet PCs.

The most powerful model of the Windows-based tablet is the Surface Pro 4 1 TB, which features Intel's sixth-generation processor the Core i7. This gives the device the ability to perform a number of tasks, such as gaming or displaying HD graphics, at very high speeds with little problem.

Users can also appreciate the Surface Pro 4's 16 GB RAM and 1 TB worth of storage that help solidify the tablet's reputation as a versatile and high-performing computer for personal or business use.

The Surface Pro 4 1TB is available through Microsoft stores and other select retailers for $2,699.

If the 1 TB tablet seems a little too pricey for your liking, you can opt for a budget-friendlier model of the Core i7-powered device.

The Surface Pro 4 has a 512 GB version that sports the same sixth-generation Intel processor and 16 GB RAM. The downgrade in storage size brings the price down as well, which is pegged at $2,199.

People who simply wish to try out Microsoft tablet PC and not willing to shell out that much money on the device yet can go with the Surface Pro 4 256 GB model, which is priced at $1,599. It has the Intel Core i7 processor but a slightly lower 8 GB RAM.

Compared to other similar tablet PCs in the market, Microsoft's newest line of high-performance Surface Pro 4s may require a bit of budget stretching in the part of the average consumer.

These products are geared toward people who don't mind putting a premium on their computing devices just as long as they wouldn't have to worry about slow processing speeds or limited storage space.

Other Tablet PCs

Tablets from other brands, such as Apple and Samsung, can only offer almost half of the storage or processing power as Surface Pro 4, but they are still worth checking out, especially if you're only after having a mobile device for casual use.

The iPad Pro, which was released in November, features Apple's A9X dual-core 2.26 GHz processor and 4 GB of RAM.

Customers can choose between the 32 GB and 128 GB versions, depending on the size of internal storage needed. These specs are enough to handle the amount of apps, high definition videos, movies, photos, books and magazines that typical users keep in their devices.

The iPad Pro can be bought from Apple stores and other retailers for $799 for the 32 GB Wi-Fi model, $949 for the 128 GB Wi-Fi model and $1,079 for the Wi-Fi model with cellular capabilities.

On Samsung's side of the tracks, Galaxy Tab S2s are available in various memory and display sizes.

The Galaxy Tab S2 with 8-inch Super AMOLED display and 32 GB of storage space is priced at $399.99, while the slightly larger 9.7-inch version with similar specs is priced at $499.99.

Memory space for these Samsung devices can be expanded to 128 GB through the use of a microSD card.
