Google Maps is set to get a new update which will bring more goodies users' way.

The update for the new Google Maps for desktop will bring several new features like Waze traffic info, 3D Earth Tours and enhanced Street View imagery.

"As you gear up for the holidays, you can easily plan your vacation with the new Google Maps for desktop. With the latest updates, Earth Tours will take you on a virtual trip through cities and natural wonders in full 3D, while Street View imagery and real time traffic incidents will help to ensure smooth travels," notes Google.

Moreover, those who missed the character Pegman will be delighted to know that he is back to guide you through your Street View journey. The geometrical character is back and is located on the lower right corner of the browser. Users can take a Street View tour of over 50 countries in a jiffy.

Clicking on Pegman will light up the roads with Street View support in blue. Hovering over the highlighted area will give a street-level overview and users will also notice blue circles or Photo Spheres dotting the map. Photo Spheres are spots where users have uploaded images.

"To discover a world of imagery at your fingertips, look no further than Pegman - your guide through Street View - who you can find in the lower right corner of the screen. Click on Pegman, and areas with Street View imagery will light up in blue. For a street-level preview, hover over any highlighted road, then click to dive into that location," notes Google's blog post.

Yellow circles are representative of museums, airplanes and restaurants and take them inside the same via the 360-degree tour of the locale.

For unknown areas, Google has introduced a step-by-step preview feature which shows off a street-level image of each point in the route.

"Just click "Preview steps" from the directions card and advance through for a quick study of your trip, including transfers for transit," notes Google.

Google Maps for desktop will also imbibe real-time traffic information courtesy Waze. Users can also zoom around with Earth Tours, which gives a 3D tour of buildings, terrains, etc.

Users who signed up for the Google Maps preview will get to see the new features from November 6, whereas others have to wait a few weeks.
