What do you get when you mix the over-the-top destruction of the Burnout series with golf? Dangerous Golf, the new game from the creators of Burnout. It is every bit as ridiculous as it sounds.

It's the first game from the recently formed Three Fields Entertainment, founded by Burnout creators Fiona Sperry and Alex Ward. At first glance, it's easy to see their influence. Instead of attempting to make par or birdie by landing your golf ball in the hole in as few strokes as possible, players are instead encouraged to smash anything and everything along the way with their superpowered golf ball.

"It's as serious a golf game as Burnout was a serious simulation to driving games," Ward says. "We wanted to mix the attitude of Burnout with the destruction of Black whilst setting the golf ball on fire - a nod to NBA Jam. This type of gameplay is part of our DNA, and something we think our fans will truly enjoy."

Players will be awarded points for trick shots and ricochets, but the real high scores will come from how much damage they can wrack up in a given area. The more impressive shots you make, the more damage your ball will do. Eventually players can activate their "Smashbreaker," which makes the golf ball even more powerful for a limited amount of time.

There will be more than 100 holes in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations for players to smash, with a number of modifiers adding further twists to the gameplay, such as players having to avoid certain objects, teleportation, vehicles and more.

The game will be include online and offline multiplayer, so friends can team up and compete to try and cause the most destruction possible. Dangerous Golf is expected to release in May for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

As for what comes next for Three Fields Entertainment? Expect more the same.

"Dangerous Golf is just the beginning of a series of games that will focus on speed, danger, excitement and destruction," Sperry says. The team will begin work on a "spiritual successor" to Burnout once Dangerous Golf is complete, so expect more explosions and crazy, physics-based action from the team in the future.
