Although it may not be the most legal method, one reason why people torrent movies, TV shows and games is because of the selection available. Whether you want to binge-watch "Downton Abbey" before it premieres in the U.S. or stream the still-in-theaters "Guardians of the Galaxy" in the comfort of your own home, torrenting usually makes it possible with the click of a download. But with so much at their fingertips, what are Americans watching?

Real estate website Movoto answered that question for us. It turns out that "Game of Thrones" is the most torrented TV show in 15 states, which is the most out of any show torrented in the data. As the most-watched show in HBO's history and one that dominates social media chatter, it's no surprise that Americans would get their medieval fantasy fix at all costs. However, what is surprising is that Showtime's horror thriller "Penny Dreadful" took the No. 2 spot as the most torrented TV show in seven states. "24" came in third as the top torrented show in six states.

To get these results, Movoto collected data from the location of seeding nodes, or computers that have downloaded content and is accessible for other computers to download the content also, for the 300 most popular torrents. Overall, the data set included nearly four million nodes, three million IP addresses and hundreds of copyrighted TV, movie and game titles. No illegal materials were downloaded in the analysis, according to Movoto.

The most torrented movie winner was a bit less clear-cut than the TV show data. "Captain America" reigned supreme as the most torrented movie in four states. Not too far behind it, though, were "Godzilla," the Nicolas Cage movie "Tokarev" (also known as "Rage") and "Neighbors," which had been torrented the most in three states.

As for games, "Watch Dogs" dominated by being the most torrented in 20 states. "The Elder Scrolls" followed with four states, and "The Sims 3 Island Paradise" tied for third place with "Xenonauts" and "Dark Souls II" with two states.

Those who live in Florida, Hawaii, Vermont and Washington must really like their entertainment because these are the top torrenting states overall. On the other end of the spectrum, residents of Iowa, South Dakota and West Virginia must get their kicks elsewhere because the least torrenting occurs in those states.
