The wildly-popular Warcraft franchise is becoming a blockbuster film this summer, and it looks like developer Blizzard may try to use ticket sales to increase the number of citizens adventuring in Azeroth.

According to a survey recently sent out by Blizzard, the company is contemplating the idea of packaging in a digital copy of the base game of World of Warcraft and subsequent expansions (Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor) with Warcraft movie tickets. The survey also states the bundle would include one month of free game time (World of Warcraft is one of the few Mmorpgs that still requires a monthly fee) as well as an exclusive in-game item.

What's not 100 percent clear is if this deal would be valid for all Warcraft ticket purchases, or if it would be a special offer for an increased ticket price. So far, Blizzard isn't saying, although the company has confirmed that the email is legitimate after phishing concerns from fans arose thanks to the email misspelling the word "Lich."

Certainly, those who enjoyed the film but had never played World of Warcraft would find the deal promising, and no doubt, Blizzard hopes to convert a few players into regulars. That way, when the game's new Legion expansion comes out later this year, Azeroth will be ready with a fresh batch of new players. We can only assume that a large portion of Warcraft's audience will be fans who do play or at one time played World of Warcraft, so it will be interesting to see if those players can still take advantage of the exclusive item and free month of game-time.

Those who do dive into the game world after watching the movie will find that many of the film's sights look familiar. Director Duncan Jones has painstakingly recreated the world of Azeroth, and while it's not identical, the attention to detail is definitely there. You can check out what we mean here.

Warcraft is in theaters June 10.
