At the 2016 North American International Auto Show — or Detroit Auto Show — last month, Acura introduced its Precision concept sedan, which was an absolute head turner, setting social media on fire among car enthusiast circles.

Well, it seems that the automaker took design cues from that ultra-slick ride to update the look of its 2017 MDX luxury SUV. The redesigned and re-engineered MDX is slated to be revealed at the 2016 New York International Auto Show on March 23.

Simply put — an SUV shouldn't be allowed to look this good.

While Acura is keeping relatively tight-lipped about what's under the hood, the company claims that the bolstered SUV comes equipped with "an advanced powertrain technology, in concert with Acura's brand's focus on Precision Crafted Performance." Also, the new and improved MDX will have "added luxury comfort and convenience features."

We also know that the new MDX was designed by the Acura Design Studio in Torrance, Calif.

"We are sharpening our focus on the Precision Crafted Performance DNA of the Acura brand and the 2017 MDX will integrate new styling elements and powertrain technology that takes us another step in that direction," John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., said in a company press release statement.

Before this impending release, the MDX already served as the best-selling three-row luxury SUV ever in addition to being the automaker's best-selling SUV in general, as reported by Acura. Sales of the SUV have been over 50,000 vehicles in each of the past three years.

With the concept sedan last month and 2017 MDX, Acura is really pushing its Precision Crafted Performance via its advanced vehicle design and innovative technologies.

Acura should be pulling out all the stops, too, considering its reveal of the 2017 MDX at the New York International Auto Show comes four days before Honda's luxury brand turns 30 years old.

Let's not forget the 2017 Acura NSX, which also touts Precision Crafted Performance, and had its own commercial during the Super Bowl 50 broadcast earlier this month.

If designs like these three models from Acura don't push competing automakers from upping their designs and daring to take chances, not much will.

These vehicles scream.
