Star Wars fans have already seen a variety of LEGO creations based on the latest movie, including LEGO BB-8 units, but one fan of The Force Awakens figured out how to create a small BB-8 using existing pieces from several existing LEGO sets.

Not only does this LEGO BB-8 look nice, but it also rolls, without the use of any electronic components.

All the pieces used to build this BB-8 come from standard LEGO sets, too, unlike many of the other Star Wars LEGO recreations out there.

Because there is no electronic component or electric motor, this BB-8 goes into motion with the help of a crank when attached to a LEGO base or by being rolled across the floor.

Although the 180 parts for BB-8 did come from LEGO sets, each received a paint job to match BB-8's signature orange and white colors. BB-8's body is actually the planet Tatooine from the LEGO Star Wars Planet set.

"Inside you'll find LEGO weights suspended from the central axle that bolster up two LEGO magnets," writes the LEGO BB-8 creators over on the project's LEGO Ideas page. "Those magnets are held up close to the top of the ball and attract the two magnets built into BB-8's head. The head uses a cockpit dome (painted), hinge parts, and the smallest LEGO wheels to skate on top of the body."

Of course, for those without the technical or LEGO know-how to build something like this from scratch, voting for the project on LEGO Ideas means that it has a chance of becoming its own real set. However, LEGO won't consider a project for public consumption until it gets 10,000 votes, so if you'd like to see this in stores, be sure to support it.

Right now, the LEGO BB-8 only has around 2,600 supporters, so it still has a long way to go before becoming an official LEGO set. However, there are still over 500 days to support it.

"This Rolling BB-8 is super fun to fidget with, roll about, and satisfies a midpoint between static model and full on electric RC," writes the project's creators. "It would make a great addition to any LEGO or Star Wars fan's collection!"
