Brita has found a way to make the manner that we drink water more strategic — not to mention, convenient — and it has done so by calling on Amazon.

Brita's new Wi-Fi-enabled Infinity smart pitcher touts a built-in counter that tracks the amount of water that passes through the pitcher's filter. When the old filter nears its capacity, the pitcher itself automatically orders a new filter via Amazon Dash Replenishment. A new Brita filter will then be at your doorstep precisely at the time you need it.

The way it works is once the Infinity pitcher is purchased, users simply register it on Brita.com/Infinity, connect the smart pitcher to their home Wi-Fi network and sign up for Amazon Dash Replenishment via their Amazon accounts. From there, each time your filter is nearing its end (roughly 40 gallons of water), it will send the pitcher a signal, and the pitcher itself will automatically ordering the new filter.

This solves the issue — and time — from not having an extra filter and having to go to the store to purchase one.

"People buy Brita pitchers because they want cleaner, great-tasting water from any tap, but the challenge is remembering to have that replacement filter on-hand, just when you need it," Brita's general manager, Ed Huber, said in the company's press release statement to make the announcement of its collaboration with Amazon on Monday. "We saw an opportunity to work with Amazon to make keeping up-to-date on filter changes effortless for Brita users. By integrating Wi-Fi connectivity into this pitcher so it can connect with Amazon Dash Replenishment, we've created an elegant, simple solution to eliminate that moment when you realize you didn't re-order your filter."

Amazon is equally glad to team up with Brita, in extending its Dash Replenishment service, which already is synced to a plethora of common, name-brand household items to ensure that consumers have everything they need in stock all with the convenient touch of a Dash button.

"Amazon is all about making our customers' lives more convenient. Our goal is to ensure customers always have the everyday essentials they need, and with Dash Replenishment, smart household products know when it's time to reorder to keep those essentials in stock," Daniel Rausch, Amazon Devices director said.

The Infinity pitcher holds up to eight cups of water and is now available on Amazon for $44.99.
