A Marvel Civil War begins in May, with the release of the next Captain America movie, but the company plans on starting the events that lead up to that epic battle on television series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

During this season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Phil Coulson and company have already had their share of run-ins with the Inhumans, a large group of superpowered people who may or may not wish the world harm. As we've seen already, keeping these people under control has proven challenging for Coulson's team.

Coulson prefers to treat the Inhumans as potential allies, with Daisy (formerly Skye) leading a special team to round up the Inhumans before other nefarious groups get their hands on them, or worse, before the government locks them away forever.

However, Coulson's plan is unpopular with those in charge, particularly those in D.C., who think that all Inhumans are a danger to society.

In a new trailer for the midseason premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., viewers can expect to see this conflict begin to come to a head.

This will lead up to events in Captain America: Civil War, which take place in a world where the U.S. government calls for all superpowered individuals to register as such so that governmental agencies can keep an eye on them. This controversial decision brings Captain America and Iron Man to blows.

As if that wasn't enough, though, S.H.I.E.L.D. also has the new and improved Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) to deal with, who we've recently learned is actually Hive, a hybrid creature that's part human and part parasite.

"This is a new version of Ward," said Dalton to Entertainment Weekly. "The Ward that we know and love is not there anymore. He's going to be a little different. He's inhabited by another creature which has existed for centuries on this other world called Maveth. There have been monuments that have been built in his honor. He has access to all of the thoughts and memories that Ward had."

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC on March 8.
