This month marks the 100th year anniversary of BMW and ,with it, the automaker has unveiled a concept for how the Ultimate Driving Machine will look 100 hundred years from now in 2116.

The BMW Blog is reporting that the company used its centenary on Monday in Munich to reveal its Vision Next 100 futuristic concept as the perfect marriage between the human driver, machine and its surroundings with ultimate connectivity as the key.

"If, as a designer, you are able to imagine something, there's a good chance it could one day become reality. So our objective with the BMW Vision Next 100 was to develop a future scenario that people would engage with," Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group's design, announced, as reported by BMW Blog. "Technology is going to make significant advances, opening up fantastic new possibilities that will allow us to offer the driver even more assistance for an even more intense driving experience.

"My personal view is that technology should be as intuitive as possible to operate and experience so that future interactions between human, machine and surroundings become seamless," he continued. "The BMW Vision Next 100 shows how we intend to shape this future."

The Vision concept's futuristic, stop-you-in-your-tracks look is boasted by something BMW calls Alive Geometry, which features 3D design both in and outside the car. The concept vehicle also touts what the automaker refers to as its Boost and Ease modes.

Boost mode has the entire vehicle focusing on the driver, while offering support when needed to maximize the driving experience. That assistance could be anything from indicating the ideal driving line to steering point and speed.

Ease mode sees the interior transform to the point in which the steering wheel and center console retract and the headrests turn to the side, with the seats and door trim combining into a single unit, so that the driver and front-seat passenger could turn toward each other in vehicle's autonomous mode.

Although this concept coincides with the brand's 100th-year anniversary, its capabilities are said to be available within the next few decades.

Looks like BMW is more than equipped for the future.
