Bungie wants you to earn your epic loot yourself.

Destiny will not have a feature where players can trade items with each other.

In the latest weekly update on the company's site, community manager David "Deej" Dague answered one user's question about items. Jackbandit asked, "Is it going to be possible to trade items in the full game?"

The response by Dague? "Only with your enemies. Trade your ammo for their loot. You know the best way to deliver ammo to a Cabal Centurian? You'll figure it out, and it's tons of fun. As for swapping irons in the Tower? Nope. We want you to earn 'em. You should be able to tell a badass story for every sweet jewel in your arsenal. Once you earn them, the various Guardians under your account will be able to trade them, but weapons belong to the players who acquire them through action and bravery."

This is quite a restrictive feature for an online multiplayer game, but there are a variety of reasons that the developer may have limited such item access. By keeping items to one person, it probably prevents exploits that would use Internet lag or online errors to duplicate items. This becomes especially important when money and virtual currencies become involved, which Destiny will have. It will also make the game more balanced, with characters rarely having items that are not appropriate for their level.

Other fan questions in the site update revealed that clans in the game will be limited to 100 players, that you can't instantly travel between places on the same planet without entering orbit and that Bungie's servers will not go live until "it is September 9th somewhere in the world."

Destiny will be published by Activision on September 9, for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
