Sony Pictures Television Networks launched a new photo app on Tuesday that allows users to capture and share images of the world in an effort to be more conscious about the environment.

Called Picture This, the app follows the company's global campaign of the same name that supports the protection and preservation of the environment. The app was developed in partnership with the company REDspace, which is known for its interactive design and development services.

Picture This encourages users to "show us something beautiful" and "post images of a better world." The user has the option to either add an image, take a new photo, choose one from their camera roll or try one provided by Sony. Once a photo is selected, users can zoom in and out, rotate and crop the image before publishing and sharing it with friends. The image will appear with hands framing the photo, the signature look of the app. The photo can then be shared on social media sites like Facebook or Twitter or saved to the user's camera roll.

"Through photo storytelling, we're inviting everyone to capture and share images of a better place, a more sustainable community and a cleaner environment," Andy Kaplan, president of worldwide networks for Sony Pictures Television said in a press release.

Examples of photos that would be fitting to share include those of a newly-growing garden, a scene at the beach or fresh flowers blooming in spring. The idea is to spread awareness for a clean environment and sustainability.

"Using our expertise to not only creates revolutionary interactive experiences but also influences positive change in the world we live in. Well, it doesn't get any better than that," REDspace President and CEO Mike Johnston said. "Especially when it involves working with an incredible collaborator like Sony Pictures Television, whose passion for inspiring others to work together and make a global impact is infectious."

The Picture This campaign first launched in September of 2015, and includes 45 participating networks in 30 languages across 177 countries, including the U.S., Brazil, Japan, India and Portugal. Sony Pictures Television uses its resources, which include air campaigns and community events, to bring attention to environmental issues.

The Picture This app is now available to download for free for iOS and Android.
