The "Coolest Cooler" Kickstarter project has claimed the title as the most-funded project ever on the crowdfunding site.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 27, with 52 hours to go, the project had raised a whopping $10,705,766. The title was previously held by the Pebble smart watch, which raised a total of $10,266,845.

"I'm so overjoyed," said Ryan Grepper, the creator of the Coolest Cooler. "I was overjoyed at day two -- I'm so grateful for everyone coming on board."

The cooler includes features like a blender, waterproof Bluetooth speaker, USB charger, cutting board and bottle opener.

This is not the first time Grepper's cooler has seen a Kickstarter campaign. In 2013 he launched a campaign for a similar model with a goal of raising $125,000. In the end, he only raised around $100,000.

"My confidence was pretty low because of the first campaign," he said. "We thought tailgating folks would want it, and Christmas would work. But I hadn't done enough homework."

Despite this, the initial project was not a complete disaster. The failed campaign connected Grepper with enough people to give him back his confidence and inspire him to give it a second try.

"Using the folks from last time around and other fans, we made a bigger splash that had a ripple effect," Grepper said. "The campaign starts when it goes up online, but the biggest variables are the work that goes into the campaign, connecting with your backers before you go live."

The cooler has been a long time in the making. In fact, it has been one of Grepper's passions for a decade.

"Nine or 10 years ago, I was making a blender out of a weed wacker, putting an old car stereo into a cooler," Grepper said in an interview.

Kicktraq, a website that tracks Kickstarter campaigns and makes predictions on how much projects could earn, says that the project could earn as much as $12 million by the time the funding period ends.

Kickstarter has become a standard for people who want to get a project off the ground, and an increasingly large number of investors are looking at it to gauge customer demand.

Those who pledged $165 or more to the project will be getting their coolers in February 2015. The cooler comes in three colors - Margarita, Blue Moon and Coolest Orange.
