"Preacher" was over at WonderCon last Friday, wrapping up its panel with an official look at Arseface.

To be played by Ian Colletti, Arseface, or Eugene Root, is one of the most visually distinctive characters in the "Preacher" universe, which is why a lot of fans are keen on seeing how AMC would choose to interpret the character.

This isn't actually the first time that fans got a look at Arseface, as set photos have previously surfaced in 2015 while "Preacher" was on production, but this is the best view so far of Colletti in character. AMC's Arseface doesn't match the character's comic book appearance exactly, BUT it still lives up to its name perfectly.

Who Is Arseface?

Arseface, or at least back when he was still Eugene Root, was your typical teenage boy dealing with typical teenage issues, like parents, school and society. However, as the son of the sheriff of Annville, Texas, he was particularly feeling the pressure not to be a disappointment, which is why it was no wonder that he decided to kill himself.

Not that he did it without prodding from his guitar-playing, pot-smoking best friend, Pube.

Having idolized Kurt Cobain, Eugene and Pube believed that the Nirvana frontman understood their troubles. When Cobain died, Pube was able to convince Eugene that death was their only escape from all the pain.

Unfortunately, Eugene was a disappointment even when it came to killing himself.

Pube was able to blow his brains out with the gun they stole from Sheriff Root but Eugene was not so successful, ending up only nearly blowing his face off.

Though disfigured, Eugene actually came out from the accident a better person, so to speak. No longer depressed and apathetic, he had steeled himself to be the perfect son, looking forward to the opportunity to fight crime with his dad.

Then he met Jesse Custer.

Why Arseface?

Well, because his face looks like an arse. You have the alcoholic Irish vampire Cassidy to thank for that very astute observation.

"Preacher" is set to premiere May 22 on AMC.
