One of the classic Alienware gaming desktop line is the Area 51, and after a long hiatus, Dell is bringing back the system from the dead. The new device looks quite different when compared to the Area 51 of old, and as expected, this thing is a gaming beast.

The new Area 51 is launching with the latest Intel high-end processor in the form of the Haswell-E CPU. This should be considered a very late entry to the Haswell generation of Intel processors, and it is designed to give PC gamers the boost required to get the most out of their favorite video games.

"We're excited to reveal the reimagined Alienware Area-51, a system that is the result of 18 years of innovation fueled by our love of gaming," said Frank Azor, General Manager of Alienware. "We questioned everything and then began working on a system based on how we actually use our full-tower desktops rather than based on what was quick, easy or comfortable for us to design."

We understand that this beautiful looking gaming rig comes with an X99 motherboard that supports DDR4 memory. This should give PC gamers enough room to upgrade to the latest hardware for years to come. Furthermore, the housing is capable of holding up to hard drives, three full-width GPUs, and is built to support up to 1.5k power supply.

When this bad boy goes on sale later in the year, Dell will have two versions on offer. One with AMD inside, and another with Nvidia.

When one looks at the specifications of the Area 51, it is clear that this device will no doubt generate a lot of heat. This has played a role in the design language, as the rig can be placed against a wall without the user worrying about overheating.

Like all high-end Alienware gaming laptops and desktop, the Area 51 comes packed with tons of light surrounding the chassis. The entire rig is user controlled, and is made possible by Alienware's AlienFX software.

The last time we've seen an Area 51 desktop was way back in 2010, and it was a beat then. Such a system could very well outperform several gaming rigs in 2014.

Dell is planning to launch the new Area 51 desktop gaming machine in October of this year. However, the company did not talk about the price, but for what is on offer, we expect the price to be very expensive.

Folks who want the best performance in PC gaming are the ones who will likely shell out for the new Area 51, if even just for the cool looking chassis.
