Mad Max: Fury Road's Imperator Furiosa is back behind the wheel for an epic ride but, this time, she is not only riding furiously fast but taking a page from Ravenna's villainy too. Academy Award winning actress Charlize Theron has signed on to play the villain role in Fast 8, the eighth installment of the action-packed The Fast and the Furious film franchise.

The Fast 8 production team made the announcement on April 7 and noted that Therón will be the greatest adversary for the eighth film. Details on Theron's character have yet to be released so all we really have is that she will play a villain role, according to the official announcement Tweet.

Therón as the villain in Fast 8? Blink your head lights if you agree!

It seems the South African, multi-awarded actress may have a thing for driving fast in cars because she has been behind the wheel of a mini cooper back in 2003 in The Italian Job and a massive war rig that she has personally improvised in Mad Max: Fury Road so only she can drive it.

According to Vin Diesel when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in March 2015, Fast 8 will be set in New York. Chris Morgan wrote the script for the film-his sixth in the franchise, F. Gary Gray will take the director's seat and Neal H. Moritz will be producing, as he did in the previous seven films in the franchise.

Reprising their roles are Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs and Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz who are all members of Dom's team.

Fast 8 will be the first part of the final trilogy in the franchise and is the first Fast and Furious film- that is not Tokyo Drift-without actor Paul Walker who passed away after a car crash in 2013.

The film will reportedly begin production in the Summer, with an April 14, 2017 target release date.
