Prepping fans for a beta period that's set to begin in the middle of the month, Gears of War 4's executive producer Rod Fergusson tweeted out a video of a Dropshot headshot gory enough to turn around digested dinners.

The Dropshot is a marriage of a mine and a drill. Players will get to guide the weapon through the air and set its target on the ground.

When the Dropshot strikes down, it bores a hole into the ground moments before exploding. But if there's a bipedal bag of flesh directly below where the Dropshot is set to strike, this happens:

And that's not the only way to execute an enemy with the Dropshot weapon. After its drill mine has been launched, players skewer enemies with the Dropshot's base then launch. Watch the Dropshot launch a body in the recently released Gears of War 4 - Lock, Load and Launch trailer below:

The Gears of War 4 beta kicks off on April 18 for those who have played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on the Xbox One. Microsoft gave gamers until April 11 to log into Xbox Live and play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for them to qualify for early access to the Gears of War 4 beta.

For those who missed the deadline and still want to help beta test the game, they'll have to wait until April 25 before they can join in the action.

And for those still hungry for more Gears of War content, Microsoft and developer The Coalition have released a new trailer for the game and its set to the sounds of a Distrubed cover of Simon and Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence."

"At the conclusion of Gears of War 3, Marcus Fenix wondered what tomorrow would bring. What a world without war would look like," says Microsoft. "This is the story of two tomorrows — the one Marcus envisioned, and the one 25 years later, where all hope is shattered as a new nightmare is reborn."
