It seemed likely, and now, EA has confirmed it: Lando Calrissian will be joining the hero roster of Star Wars Battlefront in the game's Bespin expansion.

EA confirmed the character's arrival in a new blog post outlining some of the new content and events that Star Wars Battlefront players can expect in the months ahead. Joining the infamous owner of Cloud City will be the bounty hunter Dengar, who will be the new hero for the Empire in the Bespin expansion. No other details, such as the abilities for the two heroes, have been revealed at this time.

That isn't all EA revealed today. Numerous in-game events will see release in the coming months, with EA saying players will be able to enjoy more double XP weekends and community missions. Fans can also expect a special event centered around May 4, aka Star Wars day.

It looks like more free content will also be added to the game soon. Though EA didn't dive into any real detail, the blog post says fans will be receiving additional Hutt Contracts to complete to unlock powerful new Star Cards like the Bacta Bomb, Ion Neutralizer and the Beserker trait. The publisher is also teasing what new options for offline play might be available. Might the ability for players to participate in large-scale bot matches become a possibility?

Star Wars Battlefront recently saw the release of its first expansion, Outer Rim, which added new maps, a new mode and two new heroes. It sounds like the Bespin expansion will do much the same, with EA stating it too will add a new game type, plus additional maps of both the big and small variety.

In addition to the first expansion, the game has received a number of free maps since launch. Those kind of updates sound like they will continue as well.

The game's Bespin expansion is set to arrive this summer. Those who purchase the game's $50 season pass will be able to enjoy the next expansion two weeks ahead of those who buy it standalone. Expect more details on Lando and Dengar in the coming months.
