Batman has never shied away from promoting himself. From the iconic Batarangs to the Batmobile itself, it seems like everything Bruce Wayne owns (or creates) proudly sports the iconic Bat symbol. No matter what's going on, Bruce Wayne wants people to know all about Batman.

That, apparently, also applies to Bruce Wayne's underwear and socks.

Artist Mikel Janin will be working alongside writer Tom King and artist David Finch on DC's Batman comic series, and to get fans excited, he's released a rather revealing look at his character design for Bruce Wayne.

We say "revealing" because the image Janin posted on Facebook features a shirtless and pants-less Bruce Wanye wearing nothing but his underwear and socks. Lo and behold, Bruce's boxer-briefs are even sporting a bat symbol. It's unclear if his socks are bat-themed as well, but Janin does refer to them as "bat-socks."

One might think sporting Batman-themed underwear and socks to be a real risk for somebody trying to keep the fact that he is actually Batman a secret. What if a lady friend that Bruce brings home sees his socks on the floor and starts to suspect that those late night spelunking adventures might actually not be late night spelunking adventures at all? What if, while he's changing in the locker room, somebody notices Bruce's affinity for the bat symbol? It seems kind of reckless for the world's greatest detective.

Of course, Bruce could also shrug it off by saying he's simply a fan of bat-obsessed vigilante. As DC hasn't ever established how common it is to find Batman-themed merchandise in-universe, perhaps it's not uncommon for the men of Gotham to wear Batman-themed undies. Maybe it makes them feel safe at night?

It's not so often we get to see what goes on beneath a hero's costume. In that case, this is a rare look behind the scenes, though perhaps what Batman's underwear looks like would have been best left to the imagination.

In other Batman news, the hero recently got a new costume in the comics. You can check that out here
