In The Technomancer, there is life on Mars, but that life is often treacherous and marred by a lack of resources, particularly water. On the Red Planet, "water is a source of conflict, struggle and death."

A new trailer released for the action-adventure cyberpunk RPG not only shows the difficulty of living on Mars and uncovers some of its other dangers, but also shows off gameplay, as well as the title's combat, skills and crafting systems.

The Technomancer, by Spiders Studio, takes place in the future, several hundred years after humans first started living on Mars. In the game, the player takes on the role of Zachariah, a rookie Technomancer, a cybernetic-enhanced human, who must run across the Red Planet while being pursued by a corrupt police force. Meanwhile, Zachariah must also uncover an important secret that could change life for those who live on the planet forever.

"The Technomancer takes place after a cataclysmic event that decimated the population and isolated the Red Planet from Earth," writes Spiders Studio in an email press release. "The pioneering optimism of the early colonies has long since vanished. In its place lies no man's lands, sprawling shanty towns, and broken cities governed by shadowy officials. The fractured settlements offer protection from the lethal radiations of the sun, but they're far from safe havens: desperate criminals and terrifying, mutated creatures lie in wait for the unprepared."

The trailer also offers details about companions the player can get along the way, as well as explains how each companion has its own "preferences, mood and moral code."

"On the run from the Secret Police and confronted by the harsh realities of the Red Planet, you must undertake a quest that takes you through forgotten paradises, cities lost under the ice, and dystopian shanties sprawled across Mars' dusty embrace," writes Spiders Studio. "Faced with the cruelty of Mars' iron-fist enforcers and alien wildlife, can you survive long enough to uncover the truth behind The Technomancer?"

The game also features dialogue-based choices that will ultimately affect later gameplay and story.

The Technomancer releases on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 21.
