The Band Adapter makes swapping styles easier and offers owners a new way to customize their Gear S2. Samsung officially made the announcement on April 20.

By means of the Band Adapter, users can now clip on standard 20 mm watch straps such as the Gear S2 classic strap, or those they can buy from Etsy, Amazon and other retailers.

"Available in both dark gray and silver, the lightweight stainless steel adapters are strong and durable, fitting seamlessly onto the Gear S2, giving the device a wider range of looks, including leather, metal and ceramic," says Samsung.

Sad to say, though, this Band Adapter can only be snagged in Singapore, Germany and South Africa at the moment. However, the company says it will soon push it out to other countries, "soon." This means customers in the United States and the United Kingdom should have to wait a little while before it shows up on store shelves.

A report from Wareable says consumers can grab one through a retailer that offers it for €25, or about $28.

Since the 2015 launch of Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic smartwatches, Samsung has worked with a multitude of companies in producing an array of fashionable straps and hundreds of watch faces that owners can pick from.

These smartwatches have become a hit in different markets across the globe, thanks to their nifty features, wide range of customizable looks along with the rotating bezel interface.

The Gear S2 runs on Samsung's own operating system called Tizen and currently works with a few Android and Samsung devices. Word has it, however, that it may change down the line with the purported upcoming release of an iOS app.

In any case, the Gear S2 Band Adapter will certainly be a welcome treat to owners the moment it hits the markets in other regions. In the meantime, users of the timepiece who would want to buy one as soon as it becomes available in their places should start saving money.

Now, if you don't have a Gear S2 yet, and you wish to know more about the device and check out what the critics have to say, head on to our review roundup.
