Acer just showcased a mid-tier smartphone dubbed Liquid Zest Plus, adding to the panoply of quirky named Android handsets.

In spite of not being one of the important Android manufacturers, Acer packs quite a smooth punch in the Liquid Zest Plus, and we took a close look at it.

First off, the phone comes rigged with a nearly improbable 5,000 mAh battery. Seeing how devices that carry a 4,000 mAh power source are a rare breed, this feature surely makes the smartphone stand out. Add a fair amount of software optimization, and you got yourself an epic battery life for calls, entertainment and productivity.

The display should help with the latter, as it sports 5.5 inches of screen real estate. Sadly, the top resolution stops at 720p. Even if the resolution falls behind most rivals' displays, it will certainly prolong battery life even further. The manufacturer touts that the gargantuan battery should keep the device running for two days without recharge. What is more, the handset comes with fast-charging capabilities.

Another notable detail lies in the camera of the handset. The 13-megapixel main camera features "tri-focus," meaning that it deploys three separate autofocus systems, namely a laser, phase detection and contrast detection, respectively.

The processing power of the handset is based on the MediaTek CPU, which works in tandem with 2 GB of RAM. The default storage space is 16 GB.

On the software side of things, Acer's Liquid Zest Plus comes with Android Marshmallow pre-installed. The mid-tier phone is believed to go on sale at slightly under $250.

Last year, the OEM added two models to the Liquid line during the IFA in Berlin. The Liquid Z630 and the Liquid Z530 were intended for markets in Europe, Middle East and Asia, where affordability is still an important criteria when choosing a smartphone.

Spoiler alert: the smartphone is showcased at the 18:30 mark.
