Video game developer Bethesda has always been supportive of mods for its titles, which allow players to customize certain aspects of games to better personalize their gameplay experience.

Now, the company has taken its support one step further by offering mods from within the game itself, making it even easier for players to find mods that they like for installation.

Today marks the release of the open beta of Fallout 4 Mods, which lets players browse through all player-created mods, post feedback about each mod and install mods without ever closing their game.

"For Fallout 4, our goal was to make Mods easier and more accessible than ever before - for both the creators and the players," Bethesda writes on its blog. "By building an all-new system with Bethesda.net we've made a huge leap forward in achieving that."

So how does Mods work? All players have to do is select "Mods" from the main menu of Fallout 4, and they will have instant access to all available mods. It's that easy.

Players wanting to get in on creating Mods can do so through the Creation Kit, which lets players use the same tool that Bethesda used in making the game. That download is free from the Bethesda.net launcher. The company even put up a Wiki page to help players gets started in creating their own mods.

Both the Open Beta of Mods and the Creation Kit are available through the 1.5 update. Steam players can access that by logging in to their accounts, right-clicking on Fallout 4 in their library, selecting "Settings" and then "Betas." Choose "beta" again from the drop-down menu and click on "OK" to install the update.

The company remains grateful to the players who take part in their beta tests.

"Finally, we'd like to thank all the Modders who volunteered to beta-test the Creation Kit and Mods during our closed beta," Bethesda writes. "Your feedback has been invaluable and we couldn't have done it without you. For them and for all our players, we can't wait to see what you create."

Bethesda plans on bringing Fallout 4 Mods to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in June.
