Superhot for Xbox One gets an official May release date, allowing console players to join in the fun à la Matrix.

For those who don't know, it's an FPS game where "time moves only when you move." As everyone can imagine, the concept of a shooter mixed with a puzzle-like element instantly made it one of the most anticipated titles ever.

This expansion is hot on the heels of the rollout of Superhot to the PC, Mac and Linux back in February, all thanks to a Kickstarter campaign that got $250,798 worth of pledges from 11,626 backers.

After some time, the folks behind the game mentioned their plan to release it to the Xbox One too, and on top of that, they also teased about a virtual reality version in the foreseeable future.

"Also in the meantime we are constantly working on the Xbox One version of Superhot and doing secretive work on a bunch of grand VR plans. We can't tell you too much but Superhot in VR is going to be fun, oooh so much fun," the developers said.

Going over that VR tidbit really quick, details are currently sparse at best, particularly about the platform it's going to land on — whether it's the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. In other words, everyone's guess is as good as anyone else's at this point.

Superhot is set to go official on the Xbox One on May 3, and it's currently available via Steam for $24.99.

It's also worth mentioning that the prototype of the game is still available online, but according to the website, it only works on Firefox, Opera or any other browser that supports the Unity Web Player plugin.
