The new DC TV series, Gotham, is still in production and appears to be going well. However, not everything goes according to plan as actor Ben McKenzie, the man who has taken on the role of Jim Gordon, met in an accident that left a huge cut on the side of his forehead.

From what we can tell, it is no doubt a nasty cut, one that could have caused serious problems for the actor if it had been any deeper. To make matters worse, this incident took place on McKenzie's birthday, and we're sure he'll never forget it.

What caused the injury?

Well, McKenzie was shooting a very important fight scene, and out of nowhere his head collided with a concrete pillar nearby. The knock to his head was so hard that he ended up needing stitches to close the wound. We understand that he's doing fine right now, and is scheduled to return back to work on Monday.

For those who are unaware, Gotham is set to begin airing on Fox before the end of the year. The story is centered on the story of a young Jim Gordon before he was known as the fearless Commissioner Gordon. The series will also focus on several Batman villains before they became the iconic villains we've come to know and love.

Furthermore, a young Bruce Wayne will also feature in Gotham. We're talking about a very young Bruce Wayne here, a boy who not too long ago witnessed the gruesome murder of his parents by a lone gunman who was set out to rob them.

Jim Gordon is the man who will be following young Master Wayne's case in hopes of capturing the man who changed the boy's life for good. Viewers will also get to see Wayne's slow transformation as he sets out to overcome the death of his parents in his own way. This is what led the boy to grow up into a man who wears a Batsuit at nights to scare away villains. Clearly, he has experienced some trauma in his life before, for why else would anyone dress up as a giant bat.

Gotham is just the latest TV series from Warner/DC, and studios are hoping it will turn out to be another big hit, similar to Arrow.
