As promised, Samsung is now pushing out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for its older-gen Galaxy Note 4.

In particular, the Galaxy Note 4 N910F now benefits from the latest software update, however, before users of the handset get all excited, the update currently being rolled out is for those in Europe.

"Samsung is another step closer to completing its originally promised Android Marshmallow update schedule, as Marshmallow has started hitting N910F Galaxy Note 4 units around Europe," says GSMArena.

Nevertheless, it is a sign of things to come and suggests that the Android 6.0 update for the U.S. variant of the Galaxy Note 4 phablet is not far away.

In April, Tech Times reported that the international variant of the Galaxy Note 4 with the model number N910C started receiving the Android 6.0 update. This model houses the Exynos processor unlike the Snapdragon 805 processor in the U.S. variant.

U.S. carrier Sprint is the only one to have released the Marshmallow update for its variant of the Galaxy Note 4. The carrier pushed out the update in March. Other popular U.S. network operators such as Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile are yet to roll out the latest OS for their versions of the popular phablet, which hit the shelves in 2014.

The current software update for the N910F Galaxy Note 4 weighs 1.3 GB with a build number that depends on the carrier or country one is in.

According to reports, users of the N910F model of the Galaxy Note 4 in several European countries such as Germany, the UK, Ireland and Hungary will get the OTA update. Moreover, apart from the unlocked variant of the phablet, handsets from carriers such as A1, Swisscom and Vodafone in Austria are also getting the Marshmallow update.

The latest software update brings in tow several enhancements to users' ways, such as Doze, Google Now on Tap, better app permission management, new version of TouchWiz UI, as well as additional support for the fingerprint scanner. The overall speeds and stability of the Galaxy Note 4 also sees an improvement.

To manually check if your N910F Galaxy Note 4 has received the OTA update, go to Settings > About Device > Software Updates > Check for Updates.
