Battlefield players got a special treat earlier this month in the form of free DLC, and it looks like even more free content is on the way.

According to a listing on the Xbox One community calendar spotted by Reddit user Trentandmike, Battlefield 4's Final Stand DLC looks like it will be going free for Xbox Live Gold members on May 18. Originally released in December 2014, the Final Stand DLC continues four new maps: Giants of Karelia, Hangar 21, Hammerhead and Operation Whiteout. It also includes multiple new gadgets, weapons and vehicles for players to try out, including the snowmobile. The DLC normally retails for $15.

It's currently unclear if Final Stand will only be free on May 18 for Xbox One users or if the DLC will also be free for those playing on other platforms, but it certainly seems likely, given EA's recent "Road to Battlefield 1" promotion. As a way to celebrate the upcoming release of the newly-revealed Battlefield 1, the game publisher said it will be giving out free DLC for Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline in the months ahead to keep "the action going" in both titles prior to the new installment's release.

The first DLCs offered as part of the promotion were Battlefield 4's Dragon's Teeth expansion and Battlefield Hardline's Robbery expansion. Both DLC packs were free from May 3 to May 10. So far, it's not known how long the Final Stand DLC will be available for free, but expect EA to make an official announcement of some kind soon.

Battlefield 1 is set to arrive in October for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The game will take players to the various battlegrounds of World War I for the first time in the franchise, where they will engage in trench warfare, fly bi-planes, ride horses, battle tanks and more. If YouTube likes and dislikes are any indication, so far, the game's reception seems to be much better than that of this year's Call of Duty, though there might be more going on than meets the eye.
