Starz wants its subscribers to stream their much-loved shows on Android TV.

Hot on the heels of the arrival of WatchESPN on Android TV, Starz announced that its app just gained Android TV support in the most recent app update.

The updated app was introduced at the Internet Television Expo organized by the National Cable and Telecommunications Association.

The app now enables users to gain access not only to a wide array of movies but also Starz original series as well, such as The Girlfriend Experience, Outlander and the forthcoming third season of Power, which is scheduled to premiere this coming July.

Subscribers have to take note that they need to have a Starz subscription to be able to stream shows on their Android TV. For users who have a cable subscription that comes with access to Starz, all they have to do is download the app and sign in. Otherwise, they have to subscribe on a monthly basis, which will cost them $8.99 every month.

"For $8.99 per month, fans now have the opportunity to enjoy instant access to more than 2,400 selections each month," says Starz.

Starz is allowing up to four users to stream simultaneously.

Apart from Android TVs, which include Sony Android TV and Google Nexus Player, one can also download the Starz app on a multitude of devices, including Apple TV (4th generation and newer), Chromecast, iPads and iPhones that run iOS 7.0 or later plus Android phones and tablets. Starz has yet to push out further details as to which Android TV devices are presently supported.

A report from Android Headlines assumes that the Nvidia Shield is also compatible with the app.

For supported Android devices, the Starz app can be downloaded via the Google Play Store while iDevice users can obtain it through the App Store.

Subscribers of Movieplex and Starz Encore can likewise make use of this single destination app to stream their favorite movies and download content.

It is anticipated that people might hear more Android TV-related news in this week's Google I/O event.
