Uber wants to make sure all its users are as safe as they can be, and for this, it updated the Family Profiles feature.

The new addition to the taxi hailing app allows you to check up on your spouse getting back from work, or keep track of your children returning from school. Users whose elderly parents are off to doctor's appointments can make sure they get back home safely, via Uber.

Trip Tracker is the newest addition to the Family Profiles. It works by keeping you posted with automatic notifications and also tracks members of your Family Profile in real time.

Uber underlines its dedication to using technology to keep everyone safe and satisfied with the quality of the car-sharing service. This applies to passengers, as well as drivers. The company points out that Trip Tracker deploys sophisticated technology so that you know your loved ones are safe when using Uber.

The feature will let you know the route taken by the family member, which time they got in the car and when they are about to arrive at their destination.

To benefit from the upgrade, users must have the latest version of the Uber app installed and have a customized Family Profile. Tech Times covered the step-by-step process in a previous report, showing how easy it is to set up.

When one of the registered family member rides with Uber, the manager of the Family Profile receives a detailed list of notifications pertaining to the trip. What is more, the Uber app gives access to live tracking of the trip, if the admin deems it necessary.

To make it easy for the family members, the ride is billed directly to the Family Profile manager, who also receives a copy of the receipt.

Uber says the new functionality is live for all of its global users. This means that regardless if you are on the same continent as your family members or not, you can check up on them and know they are safe at any time.
