The phablet wars are set to heat up as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is set to hit the shelves on Oct. 17.

Pre-orders for the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 4, however, begin from Sept. 19, coinciding with the release of rival iPhone 6 Plus in the U.S.

The Galaxy Note 4 sports a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, which is .2 inches bigger than that of the iPhone 6 Plus, with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Another edge the Samsung offering has over the Apple phablet is that it comes with a stylus or S Pen in tow.

The Galaxy Note 4 also houses a powerful Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor, which is clocked at 2.7 GHz. It comes with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of on-board memory which can be expanded to 128 GB via a microSD card. The Galaxy Note 4 also boasts a fingerprint scanner and 16-megapixel primary camera with OIS. The secondary camera has 3.7 megapixels.

The phone weighs 6.21 ounces and packs in a powerful 3,220 mAh battery. The 4G LTE-capable Galaxy Note 4 will come with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Major U.S. carriers such as Verizon, Sprint, U.S. Cellular T-Mobile and AT&T will be retailing the smartphone.

Sprint will begin pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 4 from Sept. 26. The carrier will offer the device for $349.99 on a two-year contract. Under the Easy PaySM plan, eligible customers will have to shell out $30 per month for 24 months. Sprint too will offer the smartphone in Charcoal Black and Frost White. AT&T is offering the phone for $299.99 on a two-year contract and $825.99 without contract. Customers can pick the Galaxy Note 4 in either white or black. To pre-order the Galaxy Note 4 from AT&T click here. The carrier will begin shipping out pre-orders from Sept. 14.

T-Mobile, like Sprint, is set to begin pre-orders a little late, around Sept. 24. The carrier is offering the Galaxy Note 4 for $749.99 without contract. The carrier has revealed that it will offer the smartphone for monthly payments of $31.24 per month for 24 months. Customers can pick the Galaxy Note 4 in either white or black. Apart from the carriers, retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart and RadioShack will also offer the Galaxy Note 4. Amazon has the unlocked model of the device up for pre-order for $899.99 and the listing notes that it will be released on Oct. 3. Best Buy, on the other hand, lists the smartphone are coming soon.
