Rumors have been rife that the impending iPhone 7 will not boast a design revamp and instead have similar aesthetics to that of predecessors iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s. Now adding fuel to the fire are some new cases for the iPhone 7, which bear a strong resemblance to those for the two older-gen models.

At the Computers Unlimited Exposed event in London, publication Pocket-lint snapped up pictures of a glass screen protector as well as a set of case designs in a Cygnett portfolio. An industry source let slip to the publication that the case designs in the print material, along with the glass screen protector, were intended for the iPhone 7.

The case from the third-party accessory maker was interestingly shown off with the previous-gen iPhone 6s housed inside, which suggests that the dimensions of the iPhone 7 will be same.

The screen protector, also made by Cygnett, sticks to the phone's front to offer the glass a sturdier feel. It has been designed in such a manner that it reveals two holes for the sensor - over the front microphone - rather than one.

So does all of this suggest that Apple does not intend to bring any major physical changes for the iPhone 7? Possibly yes. That said, whether the Cygnett smartphone cases are indeed intended for the upcoming iPhone 7 is circumspect.

Intriguingly, Cygnett clarified that the iPhone cases shown at the event basically demoed the material the company would be deploying for cases intended for the iPhone 7.

"We at no time showed physical examples of what would be a case for any intended handset as we do not have such an item," said Cygnett.

Moreover, the accessory maker also asserted that the screen protectors in the booth were intended for the Samsung flagship smartphone Galaxy S7 and the iPhone 6. The new 3D Screen protectors from Cygnett on show were meant for the iPhone 6. The company reiterated that the renders shown of the new products were in print, whereas those that were on display were for the Galaxy S7 edge and the iPhone 6 and not for any unannounced handset.

With rumors pertaining to the iPhone 7 gathering momentum as the alleged September unveiling draws nearer, we will soon learn if Apple has indeed made any drastic design changes to the upcoming flagship or stuck to the old format.
