The wait between seasons of The Walking Dead can be unbearable at times, but it's a side effect of creating such a massive production on a yearly basis. Thankfully, fans of the show won't have to wait much longer. The fifth season of The Walking Dead is just around the corner (so are these gross burgers), and AMC wants to help ease the wait with a new trailer for the series:

For those that may have missed the fourth season, fear not because the trailer contains no major spoilers, and there's still plenty of time to catch up on old episodes before the season five premiere.

Following a successful fourth season, The Walking Dead was renewed once again back in 2013, and filming began this past May. It's been a long year, but The Walking Dead season five will premiere on Oct. 12.

It's hard to believe that, when The Walking Dead first aired, some believed the show wouldn't succeed. The show's detractors were clearly mistaken, as the first season of The Walking Dead was immensely successful. The series premiere alone gathered 5.3 million viewers, setting an AMC series premiere record at the time. The Walking Dead quickly became a household name and the brand subsequently exploded in pop culture.

Future seasons of the show would be just as successful, with seasons two and three continuing to pull in more and more viewers. AMC also continued to expand, and the network now stands as one of the most successful in today's increasingly competitive market.

Last year's season four was another major success for AMC, pulling in the highest numbers in series history. Season four, much like its predecessors, also won numerous awards for several different outlets, and maintains one of the highest critical ratings in the series to date.

It's a tough act to follow, but if the series has proven anything in these past five years, it's that the show's quality will always remain consistently excellent.

Season five of The Walking Dead will premiere Oct. 12 on AMC.
