ZTE is back with a bang. This time around, it attempts to enter the virtual reality scene with its all-new VR headset plus its Google Daydream-ready smartphone named Axon 7.

ZTE VR

Basically, the ZTE's new wearable device, which it calls ZTE VR, is the company's version of Samsung's Gear VR. This is obviously where you put the Axon 7 into.

As for the details, not much is known yet at the moment. The headset's official photo, however, shows off that it sports a slew of buttons and a control pad that users can swipe, very much like what the Gear VR has in store. Plus, the headset features a nine-axis gyroscope that helps improve motion tracking.

ZTE, though, has yet to reveal the price and the official release date of this device.

While the company says that Axon 7 supports Daydream VR, it is not announced yet if the VR is also compatible with Google's VR platform.

In any case, ZTE fans might have to wait for the Daydream rollout, which will arrive as part of Android N. Rumor has it that Android N will be released this coming fall.

Axon 7

ZTE's newly launched flagship handset Axon 7 is equipped with 5.5-inch AMOLED display and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820.

Its premium all-metal design is likewise a head turner.

Here are the other specifications housed under the phone's hood:

– 20-megapixel snapper with dual-LED flash and phase detection autofocus
– 3,250 mAh Li-Ion battery with Quick Charge 3.0
– 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM
– 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage
– Weight: 185 g
– Dimensions: 151.8 x 75 x 8.7 mm
– Color options: Quartz Gray and Ion Gold

The company touts the smartphone's fingerprint scanner as the "most accurate and quickest" so far in the industry.

Its AKM HiFi audio chipsets offer the best sound to its users.

That's not all ZTE is putting on the table. It is also offering Axon Passport 2.0. What this means for users is that the Axon 7 comes with a two-year warranty. Once the phone is broken, lost or stolen, Axon Passport will replace it free of charge.
