The most recent episode of Preacher was not for the squeamish, thanks to a fight scene that involved a chainsaw and buckets of blood.

The scene left viewers talking about the show's over-the-top and graphic violence, something fans of the Preacher comic book series are sure to appreciate.

Please note that the following contains spoilers for the second episode of Preacher. It is also not safe for work or for those opposed to gory violence.

In the episode titled "See," Jesse passes out after drinking too much. DeBlanc and Fiore find him there and sing an odd little song that they believe might do something, but whatever that something is, it doesn't happen. Cassidy shows up to protect his new best friend, thinking the two men are after him, but DeBlanc and Fiore fight back. Cassidy goes down briefly, so the two grab a chainsaw to slice up Jesse. Cassidy bounces back and a crazy fight ensues, with the chainsaw changing hands as it swings through the air.

Perhaps the best gruesome touch is the severed limb taking off with the chainsaw, intent on cutting up Jesse. Fortunately, Cassidy saves him just in time.

The scene should confirm to fans of the Vertigo comic book series that AMC doesn't plan on pulling any punches with the violence. Here's the scene in full:

Considering that the pilot episode featured a man cutting out his own heart, the series is setting a gory precedent right from the beginning. Fans will approve.

So what's up next for Jesse and friends? Next week's episode has Jesse finally realizing that he has powers and attempting to learn more about how to use them. Things get even more bizarre (and probably more bloody) as he tries to use his powers to help others. Meanwhile, Tulip asks for Jesse's help to get revenge on an old crime buddy who betrayed them. "This isn't crime, preacher," Tulip tells him, "this is justice."

Will Jesse return to his former life now that he has these new powers? Or will he stay in his Texas town and continue to try and do good (even though it often goes awry)?

Here's a preview of "The Possibilities":

Preacher airs at 9 p.m. EDT Sundays on AMC.
