Thanks to one team of passionate fans and volunteers, the world of Bethesda's Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is getting a serious facelift in the form of Skywind. This fan project reimagines Morrowind as if it were made using the more modern Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim game engine, and the results speak for themselves.

Morrowind, simply put, has never looked better. While the game is still adored by fans of the franchise, going back to play the classic RPG isn't easy on the eyes. Its visuals haven't aged well, and that's putting it lightly.

This is where Skywind comes in. The project has been in the works for more than a year, and slowly but surely, the team is making headway. A new video detailing some of the latest progress is detailed in a new video uploaded to the official Skywind YouTube channel, and it's a must-watch for fans of the series.

Those who have played Morrowind will instantly recognize some of the locations seen in the video below, as the team has added new assets, caves, armor models and more.

However, it's not just the visuals that are getting a much-needed update. Nearly everything about Morrowind is being redone and remastered for a modern audience.

"Everything shown is but a small fraction of work done on Skywind over the last few months," reads the video's description. "Music, voice acting, sound effects, quest implementation, bug fixes, etc. couldn't be shown properly in this video, but are being developed alongside the visual progress."

The team's last update came in March in the form of a recruitment video. While showing off some behind-the-scenes footage of the project's creation, the Skywind team called for passionate fans and creators to join the project so that it might soon see the light of day. Whether it be programmers or voice actors, the team is looking for more team members to help create the Morrowind remake of which fans have always dreamed. You can read more about Skywind on the project's official site.
