Meitu M6 and Meitu V4 smartphones recently hit the shelves in China and the camera-centric handsets will be the joy of mobile photography enthusiasts.

The Meitu M6, in particular, is aimed to cater to the needs of a specific niche of photo takers: selfie passionates. This is because the device holsters a powerful 21-megapixel camera on the rear as well as on the front. With the overwhelmingly potent camera, smartphone users will be able to take high quality selfies with anything and anyone within reach.

But this is not the only asset of the device, as the OEM made sure that the phone carries a slew of strong technical specs.

The screen of Meitu M6 is a 5-inch AMOLED that is able to render FHD resolutions of 1,080 x 1,920p.

Under the hood, we find a bounty of processing power coming from the MediaTek Helio P10 chipset, meaning that an eight-core CPU running at 2GHz plays nice with the 3 GB of RAM. For graphics, the handset uses a Mali-T860 MP2 GPU clocked at 700MHz. Native storage sits at 64 GB.

Those concerned about security can relax as the device comes with a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button. Audiophiles can rest assured as the OEM gifted the device with HiFi audio.

To run for hours, Meitu M6 uses a 2,900 mAh battery.

How much for this solid combo of hardware? Meitu M6 will ask its users to shell out 3,000 yuan, which amounts to about $457.

Meitu M6 is not the only device that rolled out, as a revamped edition of Meitu V4 is also up for grabs.

The first edition of the handset showed its face in November 2015, and the current model also comes with the 21-megapixel camera combo. Just as the Meitu M6, the Meitu V4 sports a 5-inch AMOLED screen that lights up in a FHD resolution of 1,080 x 1,920p.

Processing power for the device comes from the octa-core Helio P10 chipset, and 3 GB of RAM are there to back it. The default storage space is heftier in the Meitu V4, sitting at a comfortable 128 GB. This effectively doubles the storage room of its predecessor.

Meitu V4 is reportedly going to have a price tag varying between 4,000 and 5,000 yuan. This converts to approximately $610 to $762.

It should be mentioned that powerful cameras are becoming increasingly popular among Chinese manufacturers: in April, Meizu announced its Meizu Pro 6 device, which also carries a 21 megapixel sensor on its rear.
