Tracer is one of the more well-known heroes in the game, a former agent that hasn't stopped fighting the good fight to preserve what Overwatch has done for the world.

Her Story

A time-jumping adventurer originally known as Lena Oxton, Tracer had the distinction of being the youngest individual to be inducted into an experimental flight program being carried out by Overwatch. Thanks to her fearless piloting skills, she was specifically chosen to test out a prototype for the Slipstream, a teleporting fighter. Unfortunately, the teleportation matrix in the aircraft malfunctioned and it disappeared. When it did, it was presumed that Tracer was dead.

Months later, Tracer reappeared but she was forever changed, down to the molecular level. Because of the incident, her molecules got out of sync with the flow of time. "Chronal disassociation" made Tracer disappear for hours and days at a time, and when she is present, she can't maintain a physical form.

Tracer's case appeared hopeless until Winston, a scientist, designed a device that could anchor her in the present called the chronal accelerator. The device also gave her the power to control her own time, letting her slow it down or speed it up as needed. This made her one of the most effective agents in Overwatch and is what still allows her to fight even after the organization was dissolved.

Her Abilities

Pulse Pistols - Both capable of rapid fire for maximum damage

Blink - This allows Tracer to zip horizontally in space toward the direction she's moving and reappear some yards away. Up to three charges of the ability can be stored, which she generates every few seconds.

Recall - Ever wished you could go back in time to avoid a major mistake? Recall makes it possible for Tracer to do just that. When she bounds back a few seconds in time, she gains back her ammo and position on the map, on top of her health.

Pulse Bomb - A large bomb that can stick to both objects and enemies. It explodes after a brief delay, doling out high damage to enemies caught within the blast radius.

Heroes She Is Weak Against

McCree - His Flashbang ability can stun her enough to receive heavy damage from McCree, shutting out Blink and Recall, which can save Tracer repeatedly.

Roadhog - While Tracer can still use Recall even when caught by his Chain Hook, she becomes less effective when forced to blow such a big cooldown. While hooked, she is also at high risk of taking on massive damage from his Scrap Gun.

Torbjorn - His Build Turret can track tracer while she's using Blink. And when she's not, Torbjorn can easily kill her with blasts because of her low health.

Heroes She Is Strong Against

Hanzo - Tracer is difficult to hit at short range with his Scatter Arrow because of her unpredictable movement.

Tips

1. Tracer's biggest asset lies in confusing enemies with her movements. Blink often and everywhere!

2. Her Pulse Pistols deal a lot of damage at close range. Blinking away when reloading can help avoid retaliatory fire.

3. Blink is great for getting away from enemies and confusing them, but the ability can also be used to traverse gaps that would usually be impassable.

4. Tracer's Pulse Bomb deals a lot of damage, guaranteeing a kill, but is effectively only within a small area. To make the most of it, use it on enemies bunched together or powerful defenders.

5. BUT, the Pulse Bomb can also be used to take out things aside from enemies. Blowing out teleporters or making the members of the other team move to a certain spot can turn the tides in a battle too.
