Sony announced recently that it is expanding the coverage of its TV service, PlayStation Vue, to more platforms. In addition to PlayStation, iOS and Amazon Fire devices, PlayStation Vue is now available on Roku devices and will proceed to cover Android devices next week.

Support for Roku TV, Roku Streaming players and Roku Streaming Stick was implemented last Tuesday, June 21. Using a PlayStation Vue account, those who have the mentioned devices only need to download the app in order to make use of the service. Sony also leaves a seven-day free trial open for those who sign up for a Vue account.

At the moment of writing, PlayStation Vue lists three available plans.

First is its Access package, which promises 55 or more channels, including movies, sports and Cable TV for $29.99 monthly. The price spikes up to $39.99 in cities with major live local broadcast stations.

Next is the $34.99-per-month Core package with 70 or more channels, which include every channel available for Access with the addition of live national and regional sports networks. The monthly cost will also spike by $10 to $44.99 for cities that have major live local broadcast stations.

Finally, there is the Elite plan that guarantees at least 100 channels together with all the perks of the formerly mentioned plan plus access to top entertainment and movie channels. Normally, Elite comes with a $44.99 monthly, but for those in cities with major live local broadcast stations, it'll be $54.99.

"With an Internet connection and a PlayStation Vue TV-connected device, there are no additional fees such as monthly set-top box fees, or long-term contracts," Dan Myers, PlayStation Vue Head of Product, writes.

Roku coupled the announcement with a promotion through Twitter.

Prior to the addition of Roku devices, the TV service was already available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Amazon Fire Stick and Amazon Fire TV. Through its mobile app, iOS devices such as the iPad and iPhone were also made viable for use. Furthermore, using Chromecast-compatible iOS devices, the service can support five simultaneous streams toward multiple devices, three of which can be used outside the house.

Sony is also looking to expand this feature across another platform. More devices will be covered next week when support for Android gets implemented. The Playstation Vue Android app will cover tablets and phones that run on Android 4.4 or later. Support for Chromecast, as well as other Google Cast-enabled devices, was also promised. Further details regarding the implementation was reserved to be revealed next week during the support launch for Android.
