T-Mobile has officially released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Samsung's former flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 4.

That means three of the four major carriers, Sprint, Verizon and now, T-Mobile, have issued the update for the device, with only AT&T's version of the software upgrade yet to be pushed out to customers of the carrier.

"Beginning June 27, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will receive a software update to Android version 6.0.1/Baseband version N910TUVU2DPE3 or N910T3UVU1DPE3. This update provides features and improvements," says T-Mobile in a statement. 

The cited feature, of course, is Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and the two noted improvements include an anti-theft feature update and a Google Voice fix. Note that the former is only applicable to model N910T3UVU1DPE3 and the latter is only available for model N910TUVU2DPE3.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy Note 4 is a whopping 1.5 GB, so users should ensure they have enough space available on their smartphones. To manually initiate the upgrade process, be sure to have an active Wi-Fi connection, then navigate to the settings menu, scroll down to "System," and proceed to select "About Device." Then, select "Download updates manually," "OK" and then "Start," after which the system will automatically generate a restart request as it prepares the download. Approve the restart, and your Galaxy Note 4 should then begin the software update.

T-Mobile's rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the Galaxy Note 4 makes it the third of the big four carriers to do so, behind Sprint and Verizon, whose users have already received the update. The one network yet to release Marshmallow to its Note 4 users is AT&T, which has lagged behind the other carriers in releasing the OS upgrade to numerous devices, especially those manufactured by Samsung.

A recent schedule was posted on an AT&T support forum indicating that the Note 4 is scheduled to receive its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in June. With only a few days to go in the month, however, it remains to be seen if that plan will come to fruition.

It also appears up in the air as to whether the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will continue to receive major software upgrades after Android 6.0 Marshmallow. With Google set to release Android N in a few months and Samsung readying the brand new Galaxy Note 7 for August release, Marshmallow could be the end of the road for the Note 4 when it comes to OS updates.
