Batman: Return to Arkham will be missing its release date, according to Warner Bros. It was previously set to come out on July 26.

In the WB Games forum, a representative from the company posted about the delay, saying that it is intended to give the development team more time to remaster Arkham Asylum and Arkham City for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

"We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans," said the post.

A new release date has not been provided yet.

The game was leaked multiple times before Batman: Return to Arkham was announced officially in May. Aside from the base games, players will get to enjoy downloadable content and all of the Game of the Year extras.

According to Warner Bros., players can expect upgraded models, lighting, environments, effects and shaders, resulting in overall improved graphics.

The original Arkham Asylum and Arkham City games were powered using Unreal Engine 3. Virtuous Games will be remastering the two using Unreal Engine 4.

Screenshots surfaced in May showing the difference between the original games and their remastered forms, and they clearly show improvements in graphics that will very well make playing Arkham Asylum and Arkham City a more enjoyable experience.

Given the better quality of the graphics for the remastered games, it can be assumed that they'll be running at higher frame rates, although only actually playing Batman: Return to Arkham can determine that.

When Batman: Return to Arkham comes out for the PS4 and Xbox One, fans will have the opportunity to own Rocksteady's entire Batman game trilogy on one console.

Batman: Arkham Knight was released in 2015 and was critically recognized, but its PC version and season pass were disappointments, tarnishing what could have been a spotless image for the trilogy.

Do take note that Batman: Arkham Origins was not developed by Rocksteady, so it will not be part of Batman: Return to Arkham, despite being part of the game series.

Batman: Arkham Asylum originally came out in 2009, while Batman: Arkham City was released in 2011. Arkham Asylum went on to win several Game of the Year awards, while Arkham City was recognized in its own right for several categories at the VGX Awards and BAFTA Games Awards.
