Solid OnePlus fans will be delighted to know that a new version of the OnePlus 3 might already be on the way, based on a new photo that has surfaced on the internet.

It seems that the company might be planning to unveil the third variant for its hottest new phone — a red OnePlus 3.

For the uninitiated, the only available color option at the moment is Graphite, with the Soft Gold color option to be rolled out beginning July.

Twitter user The Malignant (@the_malignant) spotted the red smartphone on the OnePlus China website on June 21. The user managed to get a screenshot of the page before it was taken down.

"[This] is a screenshot from OnePlus China site," says The_Malignant. "This page was erased quickly."

Priced at only $399 in the United States, the phone has been receiving a slew of good reviews as it has a bevy of nice things to offer at an affordable price. Its premium build and great specs are the device's best selling points.

It also appears that the phone is durable as was shown in an earlier conducted torture test.

OnePlus 3 Specs

With a price cheaper than Apple's latest iPhone or Samsung's newest Galaxy smartphone, the OnePlus 3 is a great alternative as it also comes packed with superb specs that are comparable to those of other premium handsets. It is offered with a Snapdragon 820 along with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.

The OnePlus 3 also features Gorilla Glass 4, a 16-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front snapper, a fingerprint scanner, plus a 3,000 mAh fast-charging battery. It also works with LTE networks outside China. The phone's display measures 5.5 inches, rocking a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. Moreover, the phone runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and has two SIM card slots, making the device even sweeter.

Since the image of the red OnePlus 3 seems to have been removed from the site, it is now unclear whether this was simply an error or if the Chinese company could really be preparing to lift the wraps off another variant for its newest phone.

While a lot of consumers are already agog about the possible arrival of this variant, the disappointing part is that a possibility exists that the said version will only be available in China.

As always in cases like this, it is prudent to take this story with a grain of salt, as it is just a rumor after all.
