Finding public events in Destiny can be challenging, but a fan website is making tracking them down a little more manageable by eliminating some of the mystery behind when and where they appear.

It's called DestinyPublicEvents.com, and it puts a wealth of information at the disposal of Destiny players. On the site, players can find timers for every upcoming public event on every planet as well as see how much longer a public event currently in progress has remaining. Detailed maps and video walkthroughs for each area make sure players can find their way to every public event location.

Overall it's a handy resource for anybody attempting to complete public event bounties or gather those pesky legendary crafting materials. It also shines more light on how exactly Destiny's public events work.

According to the site, every public event has a chance to spawn according to the timer, but might not do so if there is only one player in the area. If you are planning on farming public events, definitely bring a buddy. Events are typically a few minutes late, with some reported events taking more than 10 minutes to show up past their estimated time of arrival.

Occasionally, in place of a public event, two enemy factions in the area will begin to wage war on one another, signaled by the text "The enemy is moving against each other" on the screen. If that happens, simply move on to another public event area.

Completing your first public event in a day will reward you with a package at the Tower, which will contain an Ascendant Shard, Ascendant Energy or a Strange Coin. All are incredibly important components in Destiny's end-game, as Ascendant resources are used to upgrade high level weapons and armor.

Strange Coins can be used to purchase Exotic weapons and armor from Xur, the mysterious merchant who only appears on the weekends. Public events will always reward Vanguard reputation and Vanguard marks, and even after completing your first event for the day will continue to have a chance of rewarding Ascendant Shards or Ascendant Energy.

As there is no official information from developer Bungie on how public events work, this looks to the best resource currently available.
