Marvel's Agents of SHIELD is lagging again, as the second episode in season 2, "Heavy is the Head," has fallen harshly in the latest TV ratings. The episode has marked the lowest point Agents of SHIELD has ever slipped since the show came on the air back in 2013.

The issues of the first season have clearly returned to haunt the second as the show runners scramble to keep viewers interested. We have to say "Heavy is the Head" was a fun episode to watch, and should be seen as one of the best in the history of the series. However, people are just not watching the show, and that is bad news for Marvel and ABC.

According to the latest Fast National Ratings, Marvel's Agents of SHIELD managed to draw in a decent 4.54 million viewers on Tuesday night, but that was not enough to keep it from achieving a 1.7 key demo rating. The evaluation amounts to the lowest ever for the show, so we're certain heads are turning, and plans are being put in place to get viewers' attention.

It's quite shocking how the show has fallen so far from grace. The premiere episode of season 1 managed to garner over 12 million sets of eyes, but since then, the viewer count has been on a slippery slope, which has now fallen over season 2.

At this rate, we'd be surprised if Marvel chooses to work with a season 3 if things do not pick up substantially before the end. Then again, the studio is making a ton of money at the box office, so we believe there's a slight chance Marvel could choose to force the issue and continue on despite the failures.

There is another option for saving this show rather than pulling it from the air, however. ABC could move it from Tuesday nights to another slot to see how it fairs. Supernatural, a show that was on its last legs before the CW changed its slot, is now one of the most loved and watched TV series.

Whatever happens to Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, let's hope other properties from the studio that are set for the small screen, are capable of performing up to the standards required.
