Get ready for a nostalgia bomb, as Call of Duty 2 is finally part of the official Xbox One backward compatibility list, and that means fans of the shooter set in World War II has yet another game to relive.

When it debuted back in 2005, it was a launch title for the Xbox 360. Back then, a lot of players were more or less impressed by Infinity Ward's game because of how it captured the historic event and placed it on the screen for everyone to experience.

With that said, it's probably safe to assume that plenty of gamers will be picking it up again. However, even way back then, it didn't really have great graphics even by the standards of 2005, so it might be a bit off-putting for some. At any rate, it's still a good look at the past of how much Call of Duty has changed over the years.

For those who still own a copy of Call of Duty 2, it's going to be up for grabs free of charge at the Xbox Store. Meanwhile, those who don't have one or lost their original CD will have to fork over $19.99 to play it.

As for what else is in store, the Invasion Map Pack and Skirmish Map Pack are also available at the Microsoft online shop, and they'll hold users back by $9.99 and $4.99 respectively.

The news comes from none other than Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, and he spread the word via Twitter.

On a related note, this could be the perfect opportunity to get ready for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, an HD remake of the classic title. It should be mentioned that there won't be a stand-alone disc of it, as it's only going to be available via the upcoming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which is slated to roll out on Nov. 4.

Other games that joined the Xbox One backward compatibility list back in July and deserves a mention include Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 and Episode 2, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 and Crystal Defenders, to name a few.
