Shopping for a car involves plenty of research before buying, and Amazon wants to help with that. Enter Amazon Vehicles, the new hub for auto shoppers.

Amazon Vehicles aims to help customers find out more about the cars they're interested in, do some research and compare various vehicles before buying. Amazon is not selling cars itself through this hub, it merely aims to help auto buyers make an informed decision before purchasing a vehicle.

Users can read about the specs and check out reviews on a slew of vehicles, ranging from trucks to SUVs and more, and see the manufacturer's recommended price for each vehicle. The "automotive community," as Amazon calls it, is not just for cars, but also for car parts and accessories.

"Our goal is to support customers during one of the most important, research-intensive purchases in their lives by helping them make informed decisions every step of the way," says Amazon's Director of Automotive, Adam Goetsch. "Amazon Vehicles is a great resource for customers who are interested in car information or looking for a broad selection of parts and accessories — all enhanced by the ability to tap into the knowledge, opinions, and experiences of other car owners within the Amazon customer community."

The new Amazon Vehicles hub goes to show that the company is increasingly invested in the auto field. Just earlier this week, Amazon teamed up with Hyundai to offer test drives through Amazon Prime Now.

While it remains to be seen whether ordering Hyundai test drives through Amazon Prime Now will be successful, Amazon Vehicles seems to hold greater promise. Information may not be hard to come by anymore in the age of the internet, but having comprehensive data at hand when researching something can be truly valuable.

Shopping for a car is no easy task, and there is a slew of aspects that need to be taken into account, from specs to price, to looks to performance, to mileage to comfort and so on. By offering research tools and promoting community engagement, Amazon Vehicles aims to serve as a one-stop shop when looking for a car, an auto accessory or a car part.

Amazon says it already has millions of products on its Vehicles hub, spanning several categories to cover various auto needs. The vehicles featured range from 1998 to 2017 models, albeit the information available for older cars is not as extensive as for newer models.

Lastly, while Amazon doesn't sell vehicles through Amazon Vehicles, customers who want to purchase car parts and accessories will be able to do so from the Amazon Automotive store.

If you're in the market for a car, head over to Amazon Vehicles and start doing your homework. If you already tried it out, what do you think of this new hub?
