Passengers on the Dallas Love Field-bound Southwest Airlines from New Orleans received a pleasant surprise from Nintendo - a free Wii U gaming console!

The passengers received complementary Wii U consoles as part of a partnership between Nintendo and Southwest Airlines with Mario himself greeting passengers and handing out the free gift on arrival.

Nearly more than 100 passengers taking Southwest Airlines' flight 1883 from New Orleans to Dallas Love Field received the Nintendo HD vide game system. Mario surprised the customers with an in-flight announcement as Nintendo and Southwest Airlines representatives joined in the fun.

"No one is better than Nintendo and Southwest Airlines at bringing friends, families and fun together," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "As Southwest's video game partner, our aim is to bring smiles to travelers and Southwest Employees through the fun of Nintendo video games."

The surprise will undoubtedly bring many smiles to several travelers this holiday season.

"Southwest Airlines continues to look for ways to have fun with our Customers and partnering with Nintendo will do just that," said Southwest Airlines Chief Marketing Officer Kevin Krone. "Much like Southwest, Nintendo delivers enjoyment and passion and we look forward to bringing the fun to our Customers nationwide."

Moreover, as part of the holiday cheer, Nintendo is also setting up Wii U Gaming Lounges in some airports between now and December 22 where Southwest Airlines has heavy traffic.

Passengers will be able to pass their time at the Gaming lounge before they board the flight and can play entertaining games like Super Mario 3D World if they are flying through Dallas Love Field, Chicago (Midway), Denver, Atlanta, Tampa Bay and St. Louis. Nearly four people can play at each game kiosk for free.

If you want to join in the fun you can do so between now and December 25 by visiting here. Enter online for a chance to win one of the 30 prize packages that include a pair of Southwest Airlines roundtrip tickets and a Wii U gaming console.
